Congestion Surcharge at Rotterdam Port

Clients are advised of surcharges being imposed at the port of Rotterdam due to extensive congestion.  Congestion fees may vary by carrier and are in the range of U$100 per container.  The bottleneck is a result of system outages, labor shortages due to vacation season, tardy vessel arrival as well as terminal construction – all of which are occurring during peak season.  The surcharge will likely start from 1 Aug.  Congestion, due to labor shortages, is also impacting ports in Germany and Belgium.
